Welcome!

There are many secrets of mental health – one is to ‘live in the present moment‘ but learning to live this way is not easy.

We can spend a lot of our time – looking back and regretting or wishing and looking ahead waiting for things to change – usually for the better.  When we do this, we miss now! We can be among family or friends and not really be present to them, mentally and/or emotionally.  We might as well not be with them at all if our mind is somewhere else.

LIVE IN THE PRESENT MOMENT – if you’re peeling potatoes then concentrate on doing that.  Whatever you’re doing, concentrate on that one thing.

We may be physically present to family and friends but if mentally or emotionally we are somewhere else, we might as well not be there.

The purpose of this website is to offer alternative ways of thinking to all of the unhappy people who live with the label ‘mental illness‘.

I want to encourage all of you who are willing to try another way – a way of CHOICE!

Maureen

In the last 25yrs, the psychiatric establishment has almost completely changed direction. It no longer supports the belief, commonly held for centuries and sensible today as ever, that if you are capable of carrying on a conversation, you should seek counselling when you are unhappy…
The chances of getting a physician today, medical or psychiatric, to suggest counselling instead of medication are very slim.

Living in the moment did not work for me as the things, people in the moment confined me to myself and made me feel disconnected from the reality of the moment. . .or something like that. For me the choice of focusing outward was far more effective. I have a very short post about an inward focusing walk about trip I took in Japan when I almost lost it completely. It reminds me of peeling potatoes.

Living in the moment does NOT mean focusing on self! It means whatever your doing or who you are with..be PRESENT to that moment instead of being mentally somewhere else. 😊
